When it becomes real

A quote is an offer until it is paid. The contract is valid and accepted at the moment of payment, not at the moment of agreement in a message. Until then either of us can walk away and neither owes the other anything.

Your quote lives on a page of its own. It is not indexed, not listed and not linked from anywhere: the only way to it is the link I send you.

Revisions

Your quote says how many revisions are included. A revision is a change of direction inside the piece that exists: an instrument out, a hit moved, a section quieter, a length trimmed.

A revision is not a rewrite. Asking for a different piece is a different job, and it is priced as one. One extra revision beyond the ones included works the same way: a share of the contract already running, so it stays in proportion. Both are quoted to you in euro, never as a percentage to work out for yourself.

Rights and licence

The base price buys you the music for private use: personal projects, internal viewing, anything without a paying audience and without a commercial purpose.

• Commercial rights. The music can go in front of a paying audience, be sold with your work, and earn money wherever it plays. Taken at checkout it costs less than added later, and the difference is written next to it in euro.
• Exclusive licence. The piece is licensed to you and to nobody else. I stop being able to place it anywhere else, which is the whole reason it costs more.

These two are separate on purpose. Without exclusivity, I keep the right to place the piece elsewhere, and nobody can promise you that something close to it will not appear in another project. Without commercial rights, you cannot sell it. Neither of them is implied by paying for the work, and both are offered again at checkout, so nobody finds out later.

Adaptations

Loops, a thirty second cut, a version without percussion, a stinger from the same theme. These almost always come months after delivery, when the film has found its distribution, so they are not sold in advance and not included. You buy them the day you need them, on the contract that is already there.

Society fees

Registration and collecting society fees are yours, whichever licence you take. They are not part of the price and I do not pay them on your behalf.

What you get

• The finished audio, mixed and mastered to broadcast level.
• Separated stems, so the dialogue mix can move the strings without moving everything else.
• Sheet music, so a musician can play it and an orchestra can record it again.
• The licence, in writing, saying which of the two options above you bought.

Credit

I ask to be credited as the composer wherever a composer is credited, and to be able to show the work in my portfolio once it is public. Every project finished with me may go there. If yours is under an embargo, say so and it stays off this site until you lift it.

Expansions

Things that can be added to a job, before or after it starts. Each one is a share of the agreed price, and you never have to work out a percentage: you see the amount in euro, fixed at the moment you ask, not at the moment it is approved.

One more revision

One additional revision round on an existing cue. Delivered within the original turnaround unless agreed otherwise.

Complete rewrite

A new composition for the same cue, replacing the previous one. The original cue remains delivered and paid.

Half the delivery time

Agreed delivery time is halved and becomes binding from the moment payment clears.

Commercial rights

Grants worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive commercial use of the delivered music in the project it was written for.

Ghost production

No credit, no attribution, no portfolio use, no public claim of authorship by the composer. Moral rights remain unwaivable under Italian law.

Exclusive assignment

Exclusive licence for the agreed uses. The composer remains the author and owner of the work, retains SIAE registration and royalty collection, and may use it privately and in the portfolio.

Su misura

Additional work agreed in writing inside the conversation, described in the line above and priced accordingly. All other terms of the contract remain unchanged.

Nothing is ever charged from a single click. You ask, I approve, you confirm, and only then is there anything to pay. Either of us can cancel any step until it is paid, and a cancelled request stays visible in our conversation rather than disappearing.

What exclusivity does and does not mean

An exclusive assignment means the music is licensed to you and to nobody else: it will not be sold again, relicensed, or reused in another project. It does not mean I stop being its author. In every case:

• The work remains my property. You hold a licence, however wide, not the authorship.
• Collecting society registration and fees stay in place. Exclusivity exempts nobody from SIAE, and neither of us from the fees that follow.
• I continue to collect the royalties due to the author.
• I may use the work privately and add the finished project to my portfolio.

Ghost production is the one case where my name comes off entirely: no credit, no attribution, no portfolio use, no public claim of authorship. Even there, moral rights cannot be waived under Italian law, by anyone, at any price.

Paying, and changing your mind

Prices are in euro and what the contract shows is what is charged. No VAT is added at checkout under the arrangement in force today, and if that ever changes the checkout will show it as its own line before you pay, never after.

Work written for one project cannot be resold, so once it has started it is not refundable, which is the ordinary rule for anything commissioned to your specification. Before I start, cancelling costs nothing. If something goes wrong on my side you get your money back: I would rather return a fee than deliver something I would not sign.
